Abstract: The objectives of this research are as follows: (1) to develop an adversity quotient test for Grade Nine students; (2) to check the quality of the adversity quotient test with an item response model; and (3) to compare the ratio of average information on tests differing in terms of length. The sample in this study consisted of 567 Grade Nine students under the authority of the Secondary Educational Service Area Office Three in the 2019 academic year. The data were analyzed using the IRT Pro program. The results of this research were as follows: (1) the results of the development were observed in the adversity quotient test. The AQ test had 40 items (10 situational) three-choice items and situational with four elements based on the theories of Stoltz. The adversity quotient by classical test theory showed that validity was in the range from 0.60-1.00 and the discriminative was in a range from 0.25-0.65; (2) the results of the item response theory showed that four element discrimination parameters (α) ranging from 0.51-2.49, and the difficulty parameter (β) showed that β1 ranged from -2.96 to -1.35, β2 ranged from -1.60 to 0.45. The test information had four factors on the adversity quotient test.  Control (θ = -1.20) was 5.70, Ownership (θ = -1.60) was 7.71, Reach (θ = -1.20) was 6.38 and Endurance (θ = -1.60) was 6.66; and (3) the results compared the ratio of average information on tests differing in length. The test 40-item : 32-item, the test 32-item : 24-item and the test 40-item : 32-item that was  higher 1.00.
