THE STUDY OF POST-TRAUMATIC GROWTH EXPERIENCES AMONG EARLY ADULTHOOD LGBTQ+ COUPLES FOLLOWING RELATIONSHIP DEVELOPMENTAL CRISIS

Abstract

This qualitative research aimed to examine the experiences, approaches, and patterns of post-traumatic growth among early LGBTQ+ adults facing developmental crises in their romantic relationships. The study employed purposive sampling and in-depth interviews as data collection tools. The findings revealed that the approaches and patterns of post-traumatic growth in this group were diverse and individualized, categorized into internal and external factors. Internal factors included three dimensions: 1. Perspective Relationship, comprising 1.1 realistic perception, 1.2 productive failure, and 1.3 optimistic; 2. Aspiration, encompassing 2.1 an achievable goal and 2.2 goal striving; and 3. Coping, which is divided into 3.1 stress management and 3.2 self-satisfaction. External factors emphasized support from social and interpersonal networks, including (1) emotional support, (2) tangible support, (3) appraisal support, and (4) informational support, all of which were directly linked to the participants’ experiences of psychological growth. The findings of this study contribute to the enhancement of knowledge and the development of practical approaches for navigating romantic relationship crises in LGBTQ+.

การวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพในครั้งนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาประสบการณ์และทำความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับแนวทาง และรูปแบบของความงอกงามทางจิตใจในกลุ่ม LGBTQ+ วัยผู้ใหญ่ตอนต้นที่เผชิญกับวิกฤติพัฒนาการความสัมพันธ์คู่รัก โดยกลุ่มตัวอย่างที่เลือกมีความเฉพาะเจาะจงและใช้การสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึกเป็นเครื่องมือในการเก็บข้อมูล ผลการวิจัยพบว่า แนวทางและรูปแบบของความงอกงามทางจิตใจในกลุ่ม LGBTQ+ ที่เผชิญวิกฤติความสัมพันธ์คู่รักนั้นประกอบไปด้วยหลายประเด็นที่มีความหลากหลายและเป็นปัจเจกนิยม ซึ่งผู้วิจัยได้จำแนกออกเป็นปัจจัยต่าง ๆ ดังนี้ ปัจจัยภายใน ประกอบด้วย 3 ด้าน ได้แก่ 1.การปรับมุมมองต่อความสัมพันธ์ (perspective relationship) ซึ่งแบ่งย่อยเป็น 1.1 การรับรู้สถานการณ์ตามความเป็นจริง (realistic perception) 1.2 การเรียนรู้จากความล้มเหลว (productive failure) และ 1.3 การมองโลกในแง่ดี (optimistic) 2. การตั้งเป้าหมายใหม่ (aspiration) ซึ่งสามารถแยกเป็น 2.1 การกำหนดเป้าหมายที่เป็นไปได้ (achievable goal) และ 2.2 การหาวิธีเพื่อไปถึงเป้าหมาย (goal striving) 3. การรับมือหลังเผชิญวิกฤติความสัมพันธ์คู่รัก (coping) โดยสามารถแยกย่อยเป็น 3.1 การกำจัดความเครียด (stress management) และ 3.2 การสร้างความพึงพอใจในตนเอง (self-satisfaction) และปัจจัยภายนอกที่สำคัญคือ การสนับสนุนจากคนรอบข้างและสังคม (social support) ประกอบด้วย 1. การสนับสนุนด้านอารมณ์ (emotional support) 2. การสนับสนุนสิ่งที่จับต้องได้ (tangible support) 3. การสนับสนุนด้านการประเมิน (appraisal support) และ 4. การสนับสนุนด้านข้อมูล (Information support) ซึ่งมีความสัมพันธ์โดยตรงกับประสบการณ์ของความงอกงามทางจิตใจในผู้เข้าร่วมวิจัย ผลการศึกษานี้สามารถนำไปประยุกต์ใช้เพื่อเสริมสร้างองค์ความรู้และเป็นแนวทางในการก้าวข้ามวิกฤติความสัมพันธ์ในกลุ่ม LGBTQ+
