ASSESSING THE GENERAL EDUCATION CURRICULUM (REVISED 2017)OF SUAN SUNANDHA RAJABHAT UNIVERSITY BY APPLYINGALEXANDER ASTIN’ S I-E-O MODEL

Abstract

The general education curriculum at Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University was developed in 2009, with guidelines corresponding with the notifications of the Ministry, and the philosophy and resolutions of the university. In the past, only partial assessments of the curriculum caused poor performances for assessment. Therefore, comprehensive assessment consisted of basic, important information for the development of high-quality curriculum. In this curriculum, the assessment concerned the application of Alexander Astin’s I-E-O Model to analyze and assess the curriculum. The results of the curriculum analysis in the first phase revealed (1) the background of the curriculum development corresponded with the idea/philosophy of the general education curriculum; (2) the purposes of the curriculum contained expected learning outcomes; (3) curriculum structure: the ratio of courses and subjects was appropriate for the structure of major subjects; (4) the contents/subjects of the curriculum corresponded with its purposes; (5) the assessment of the curriculum corresponded with desirable characteristics defined by the Thai Qualification Framework (TQF) for Higher Education. The results of the curriculum analysis in the second phase revealed (1) an introduction to learning and initial characteristics: students who participated in the curriculum and had the required characteristics; had high expectations of their professor and curriculum; 78.33% of the students had a high school GPA which satisfied requirements, and professors and teaching assistants (TAs), and their qualification/teaching experiences satisfied their requirements; (2) the environment and learning process, class activities and encouraged learning, according to the curriculum. There were some restrictions on the number of students, causing an inconsistent output of activities; and (3) the learning output and the GPA of the students, the overall results in all three courses of students who failed (one or more F grades) accounted for 1.27%, and the retention rate of the students who participated fully and accounted for 87.20% of all students. Regarding knowledge application, the results revealed that basic knowledge of general education subjects corresponded with major subjects, and students were able to apply knowledge. In terms of learning results, the educational process of the curriculum resulted in learning results as defined by the curriculum, and the results corresponded with the Thai Qualification Framework (TQF) for Higher Education.

หลักสูตรหมวดวิชาศึกษาทั่วไป มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสวนสุนันทา มีการพัฒนาหลักสูตรมาตั้งแต่ปี พ.ศ. 2552 โดยมีแนวดำเนินการให้เป็นไปตามประกาศกระทรวงและสอดคล้อง รวมทั้งสอดคล้องกับปรัชญาและปณิธานของมหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏสวนสุนันทา การประเมินหลักสูตรที่ผ่านมาพบว่ามีการประเมินในเฉพาะส่วน ทำให้การนำผลข้อมูลไปใช้ไม่เกิดผลประโยชน์สูงสุด การประเมินที่คลอบคลุมจะเป็นข้อมูลพื้นฐานสำคัญในการพัฒนาหลักสูตรให้มีคุณภาพ การประเมินหลักสูตรในครั้งนี้ผู้วิจัยประยุกต์ใช้ตัวแบบ I-E-O ของ แอสติน โดยมีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อวิเคราะห์ และประเมินหลักสูตรในด้านปัจจัยนำเข้าสู่การเรียนรู้ ด้านสภาพแวดล้อมและกระบวนการการเรียนรู้ และด้านผลการเรียนรู้ โดยกลุ่มเป้าหมายในการเก็บข้อมูล ประกอบด้วย นักศึกษา อาจารย์ผู้สอน และผู้ช่วยสอน (TA) ตลอดจนผู้มีส่วนเกี่ยวข้องกับการใช้หลักสูตร โดยมีการเก็บทั้งข้อมูลเชิงปริมาณและเชิงคุณภาพ สรุปผลการวิจัย ดังนี้ ระยะที่ 1 ผลการวิเคราะห์หลักสูตร พบว่า 1) ด้านแนวคิดเบื้องหลังของการพัฒนาหลักสูตรสอดคล้องกับแนวคิด/ปรัชญาของหมวดวิชาศึกษาทั่วไป 2) ด้านจุดมุ่งหมายของหลักสูตรครอบคลุมผลการเรียนรู้ที่คาดหวังของหลักสูตร 3) ด้านโครงสร้างของหลักสูตร สัดส่วนของหมวดวิชาและรายวิชามีความเหมาะสม กลมกลืนกับโครงสร้างวิชาเอก 4) ด้านเนื้อหา/ รายวิชาของหลักสูตรมีความสอดคล้องกับจุดประสงค์ของหลักสูตร และ 5) ด้านการประเมินผลการเรียนรู้ของหลักสูตรสอดคล้องกับคุณลักษณะที่พึงประสงค์ตามกรอบมาตรฐานคุณวุฒิระดับอุดมศึกษาแห่งชาติ ระยะที่ 2 ผลการประเมินหลักสูตร พบว่า 1) ด้านปัจจัยนำเข้าสู่การเรียนรู้ ด้านคุณลักษณะแรกเริ่มเรียนของนักศึกษา ผู้เรียนที่เข้ารับการศึกษาในหลักสูตร มีคุณสมบัติเป็นไปตามเกณฑ์การรับเข้าศึกษาที่มหาวิทยาลัยกำหนด และนักศึกษามีความคาดหวังต่ออาจารย์ผู้สอนและหลักสูตรมากที่สุดด้านเกรดเฉลี่ยระดับมัธยมศึกษาเป็นไปตามเกณฑ์ที่มหาวิทยาลัยกำหนด คิดเป็นร้อยละ 78.33 และด้านคุณลักษณะของอาจารย์และผู้ช่วยสอน ระดับคุณวุฒิ/ประสบการณ์ในการสอน เป็นไปตามเกณฑ์ที่กำหนด 2) ด้านสภาพแวดล้อมและกระบวนการการเรียนรู้ การจัดกิจกรรมการเรียนการสอนสอดคล้องและส่งเสริมการเรียนรู้ของหลักสูตร แต่ในบางรายวิชาการจัดกิจกรรมต่าง ๆ ยังมีข้อจำกัดในเรื่องของจำนวนนักศึกษา ทำให้กิจกรรมบางกิจกรรมไม่เกิดผลลัพธ์ตามจุดมุ่งหมายของหลักสูตร และ 3)ด้านผลการเรียนรู้ด้านเกรดเฉลี่ยของนักศึกษาในภาพรวมของทั้ง 3 กลุ่มวิชา พบว่า นักศึกษามีค่าระดับคะแนนเฉลี่ยไม่ผ่านเกณฑ์ (F) คิดเป็นร้อยละ 1.27 อัตราการคงอยู่ของนักศึกษาที่เรียนครบตามเวลาเรียนของหลักสูตร คิดเป็นร้อยละ 87.20 และด้านการนำความรู้ไปใช้ในวิชาเอก พบว่า ความรู้พื้นฐานของรายวิชาศึกษาทั่วไปในหลักสูตร มีความสอดคล้องและนักศึกษาสามารถนำความรู้พื้นฐาน ไปใช้ในการเรียนการสอนได้ และด้านสัมฤทธิ์ผลการเรียนรู้ จากผลการประเมินพบว่ากระบวนการจัดการเรียนการสอนของหลักสูตรส่งผลให้เกิดผลการเรียนรู้ตามที่วัตถุประสงค์กำหนด และผลการเรียนรู้ที่เกิดขึ้นเป็นไปตามกรอบมาตรฐานคุณวุฒิระดับอุดมศึกษาแห่งชาติ (TQF)
