Abstract: | The research was conducted to investigate the emotional intelligence of secondary vocational school students and to examine the effect of online group counseling on emotional intelligence of secondary vocational school students. The sample of this study was 170 secondary vocational school students by Yamane Taro table.The samples for experiment were used to select the sample group for enhancing emotional intelligence through purposive sampling. Eighteen students with lower emotional intelligence scores and who were willing to participate in the experiment were selected. Then 18 students were randomly divided into experimental group and control group (9 students in each group). The experimental group received online group counseling, while the control group did not. WLEIS scale with good reliability (0.95) and validity (0.67-1) was used to evaluate emotional intelligence, and online group counseling program guided by experts was used to intervene the emotional intelligence of secondary vocational school students. The results showed that the emotional intelligence of secondary vocational students was higher (M= 79.55, sd =17.06). The dependent t-test data analysis of the pretest and post-test emotional intelligence scores of the experimental group shows that the post-test emotional intelligence scores of the experimental group were significantly higher than the pretest scores. After the independent t-test data analysis of the post-test emotional intelligence scores of the control group and the experimental group, the results showed that the post-test emotional intelligence score of the experimental group was significantly higher than that of the control group. Conclusion: online group counseling can effectively improve the emotional intelligence of secondary vocational school students. - |
