THAI CONTEMPORARY MUSIC IN THAI SOCIETY

Abstract

This research study on contemporary Thai music in the context of Thai society aims to explore the meaning, status and cultural context of contemporary Thai music in Thai society. The concept of popular culture was used to study and collect data from documents and interviews with a sample of 19 people. The research results are as follows: (1) the meaning of contemporary Thai music is divided into five categories, as follows: the meaning of creating and combining musical elements, the meaning of historical and developmental context, the meaning of music that appears in modern times, the meaning according to Western academic principles, the meaning used instead of Traditional Thai music and a fluid meaning or flexible meaning; (2) it was found that the status of contemporary Thai music differs according to the historical context and the objectives of the users, such as being a symbol of civilization and modernity of Siam in the colonial era. It is also a tool to drive government policy and creates citizens through the education system and tools of the political community in the era after the change in political and administrative regimes and found that contemporary Thai music is music in the current entertainment business system. Representing the international identity of individuality and has a role in the study area; and (3) cultural context of contemporary Thai music, it was found that contemporary Thai music has an important element in creating contemporary Thai music, for example, there was an idea to form a band from the experiment, following the original band, fulfill orders and demands of consumers and occupation. There are members in the band of various professions with knowledge and abilities. There are a variety of musical instruments and raw materials for creating music, including Thai musical instruments, Western musical instruments, indigenous folk instruments, Southeast Asian musical instruments, world musical instruments, newly created musical instrument and raw materials that are not musical instruments, but can be used to create music. There are principles and ideas for creating works from expertise and courage to create new sounds. There are various forms and methods of presenting works that are in line with the needs of people in society. There is a process of transferring and practicing skills for proficiency. There are various distribution channels in line with changes in social context and involved people from various fields of study.

การวิจัยเรื่องดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัยในบริบทสังคมไทย มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาความหมาย สถานภาพ และบริบททางวัฒนธรรมของดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัย โดยนำแนวคิดวัฒนธรรมสมัยนิยมมาใช้ในการศึกษาและเก็บข้อมูลจากเอกสารและการสัมภาษณ์ประชากรกลุ่มตัวอย่าง จำนวน 19 คน ผลการวิจัย พบว่า 1) ความหมายของดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัย แบ่งออกเป็น 6 ชุดความหมาย ได้แก่ ความหมายของการสร้างสรรค์และผสมผสานองค์ประกอบทางดนตรี ความหมายในบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์และพัฒนาการ ความหมายของดนตรีที่ปรากฎอยู่ในปัจจุบัน ความหมายตามหลักการวิชาการตะวันตก ความหมายที่ใช้เรียกแทนคำว่าดนตรีไทยประยุกต์ และความหมายที่เลื่อนไหลหรือไม่มีความหมายที่ตายตัว 2) สถานภาพของดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัย พบว่ามีความแตกต่างกันไปตามบริบททางประวัติศาสตร์และวัตถุประสงค์ของผู้นำไปใช้ ได้แก่ การเป็นสัญลักษณ์ของความเจริญและสมัยใหม่ของสยามในยุคล่าอาณานิคม เป็นเครื่องมือทางการเมืองเพื่อขับเคลื่อนนโยบายรัฐ การสร้างพลเมืองด้วยระบบการศึกษา และเครื่องมือของกลุ่มประชาคมทางการเมืองในยุคหลังเปลี่ยนแปลงระบอบการเมืองการปกครอง และปัจจุบันพบว่า ดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัยเป็นดนตรีในระบบธุรกิจบันเทิง ตัวแทนความเป็นสากล อัตลักษณ์ของความเป็นปัจเจกชน และมีบทบาทในพื้นที่การศึกษา และ 3) บริบททางวัฒนธรรมของดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัย พบว่า ดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัยมีองค์ประกอบที่สำคัญในการประกอบสร้างความเป็นดนตรีไทยร่วมสมัย ได้แก่ มีแนวคิดในการจัดตั้งวงดนตรีที่เกิดขึ้นจากการทดลอง การทำตามวงดนตรีต้นแบบ การทำตามคำสั่งและความต้องการของผู้เสพผลงาน และการประกอบอาชีพ มีสมาชิกของวงดนตรีที่หลากหลายทั้งด้านการประกอบอาชีพและความรู้ความสามารถ มีเครื่องดนตรีและวัตถุดิบในการสร้างสรรค์เสียงดนตรีที่หลากหลาย ได้แก่ เครื่องดนตรีไทย เครื่องดนตรีตะวันตก เครื่องดนตรีพื้นบ้านพื้นเมือง เครื่องดนตรีเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ เครื่องดนตรีโลก เครื่องดนตรีที่สร้างขึ้นใหม่ และวัตถุดิบที่ไม่ใช่เครื่องดนตรีแต่สามารถนำมาใช้ในการสร้างสรรค์เสียงดนตรี มีหลักการและแนวคิดในการสร้างสรรค์ผลงานจากความเชี่ยวชาญและความกล้าที่จะสร้างสรรค์เสียงใหม่ มีรูปแบบและวิธีการนำเสนอผลงานที่หลากหลายสอดคล้องกับความต้องการของผู้คนในสังคม มีกระบวนการถ่ายทอดและการฝึกทักษะเพื่อให้เกิดความเชี่ยวชาญ มีช่องทางการเผยแพร่ที่หลากหลายสอดคล้องกับการเปลี่ยนแปลงของบริบททางสังคม และมีผู้เกี่ยวข้องจากหลากหลายสาขาวิชา
