INFORMATION LITERACY SKILLS ASSESSMENT OFBUNDITPATANASILPA INSTITUTE’S UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS

Abstract

The purposes of this study were to assess the information literacy skills (IL) among undergraduate students of Banditpatanasilpa Institute with regard to the ACRL standards, and to compare their IL skills with the factor variables and gender, years of study, faculty, grade, and most used information source and self-directed learning. Purposive sampling was used to select three hundred and sixty-six undergraduate students. The research instrument was an IL test. The data obtained were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including a t-test, F-test (One way ANOVA and post hoc) and comparison using Scheffe’s test. The results revealed that the students had a medium level of information literacy (Mean = 12.15). The comparison of the IL of the students and their gender, year of study, faculty, grade, and most used information source found that there were different information literacy skills with a statistical significance of .01 and .05. The female students had higher information literacy levels than the male students. The first-year students had higher information literacy levels than the second-year, third-year and fourth-year students. The students in the Faculty of Art Education had higher information literacy than the students of Faculty of Music and Drama and the Faculty of Fine Arts. The high-grade level students had higher information literacy than the medium and low-grade levels students. The students mostly used the Internet, places and people as information sources had higher information literacy than students who used libraries of Banditpatanasilpa Institute. Therefore, students with different levels of self-directed learning did not differ in terms of their IL skills.

การวิจัยนี้ มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อประเมินทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศตามมาตรฐานสามัตถิยะการรู้สารสนเทศสำหรับอุดมศึกษา และเปรียบเทียบทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศของนักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี สถาบันบัณฑิตพัฒนศิลป์ จำแนกตามตัวแปรเพศ ชั้นปี คณะ ผลการเรียน แหล่งสารสนเทศที่ใช้มากที่สุด และการเรียนรู้แบบนำตนเอง กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยนี้ คือ นักศึกษาระดับปริญญาตรี จำนวน 366 คน โดยการเลือกกลุ่มตัวอย่างแบบเจาะจง (Purposive sampling) เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัย คือ แบบทดสอบทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศ สถิติที่ใช้ในการวิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าเฉลี่ย ส่วนเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน ค่าสถิติ t-test ค่าสถิติ F-test และทดสอบความแตกต่างรายคู่ด้วยวิธีของเชฟเฟ่ ผลการวิจัย พบว่า นักศึกษามีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศโดยรวมอยู่ในระดับปานกลาง (Mean = 12.15) นักศึกษาที่มีเพศ ชั้นปี คณะ ผลการเรียน และการใช้แหล่งสารสนเทศมากที่สุดแตกต่างกัน มีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศแตกต่างกันอย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .01 และ .05 โดยนักศึกษาเพศหญิงมีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศมากกว่านักศึกษาเพศชาย นักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 1 มีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศมากกว่านักศึกษาชั้นปีที่ 2 ชั้นปีที่ 3 และชั้นปีที่ 4 นักศึกษาที่ศึกษาในคณะศิลปศึกษามีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศมากกว่านักศึกษาที่ศึกษาในคณะศิลปนาฏดุริยางค์และคณะศิลปวิจิตร นักศึกษาที่มีผลการเรียนระดับดีและระดับดีมากมีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศมากกว่านักศึกษาที่มีผลการเรียนระดับปานกลางและระดับอ่อน นักศึกษาที่ใช้แหล่งสารสนเทศมากที่สุดประเภทอินเทอร์เน็ต ประเภทสถานที่ และประเภทบุคคลมีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศมากกว่านักศึกษาที่ใช้แหล่งสารสนเทศมากที่สุดประเภทห้องสมุดในสถาบันฯ ส่วนนักศึกษาที่มีการเรียนรู้แบบนำตนเองต่างกัน มีทักษะการรู้สารสนเทศแตกต่างกันอย่างไม่มีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05 คือไม่แตกต่างกัน
