DEVELOPING A MODEL FOR ENHANCING CHARACTER STRENGTHS IN SCHOLARSHIP AWARDED PRE-SERVICE TEACHERS IN RURAL IMPOVERISHED AREAS THROUGH PARTICIPATORY ACTION RESEARCH

Abstract

The research aimed to develop and synthesize a model for enhancing the character strengths among rural, economically disadvantaged pre-service teachers receiving educational scholarships through participatory action research. The study consisted of two phases: a preparation phase to ensure participants understood their roles and participated, followed by an action research phase comprising planning, acting, observing, and reflecting. Twenty-four pre-service teachers from the KRU RAK TIN Project at the Faculty of Education, Loei Rajabhat University, who were in their final year conducting a teaching practicum, participated in this study. Research instruments included the AIC technique, participant observation, after-action review journals, focus group discussions, and interviews. Qualitative data were analyzed using a content analysis approach. The findings revealed that participants consistently and systematically utilized their character strengths across four research cycles, demonstrating development from basic awareness of strengths to practical application in real-world situations. The character strengths enhancement model, termed the NCSCS Model, comprises five steps: (1) nurturing positivity for personal growth, (2) collaborative strength exploration, (3) synergistic goal selection, (4) collective planning and individual implementation, and (5) shared reflection and reinforcement. These findings have significant implications for curriculum development incorporating psychological counseling approaches for pre-service teachers within the Thai cultural context.

การวิจัยนี้มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อพัฒนาและสังเคราะห์รูปแบบการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะที่เป็นจุดแข็งของนักศึกษาครูยากจนจากชนบทและได้รับทุนการศึกษาโดยใช้การวิจัยเชิงปฏิบัติการแบบมีส่วนร่วม การวิจัยแบ่งเป็น 2 ระยะเริ่มจากระยะเตรียมความพร้อมเพื่อให้ผู้ร่วมวิจัยเข้าใจบทบาทและการมีส่วนร่วม จากนั้นจึงเข้าสู่ระยะการวิจัยปฏิบัติการประกอบด้วย การวางแผน การปฏิบัติ การสังเกต และการสะท้อนผล ผู้เข้าร่วมวิจัย คือ นักศึกษาชั้นปีสุดท้ายโครงการครูรัก(ษ์)ถิ่น คณะครุศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยราชภัฏเลย จำนวน 24 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ประกอบด้วย เทคนิค AIC การสังเกตอย่างมีส่วนร่วม บันทึกการทบทวนหลังการปฏิบัติ การสนทนากลุ่ม และการสัมภาษณ์ วิเคราะห์ข้อมูลเชิงคุณภาพด้วยการวิเคราะห์เนื้อหา ผลการวิจัยพบว่า ผู้ร่วมวิจัยใช้คุณลักษณะที่เป็นจุดแข็งอย่างต่อเนื่องและเป็นระบบใน 4 วงรอบของกระบวนการวิจัยโดยแสดง การพัฒนาจากระดับการรับรู้จุดแข็งเบื้องต้นไปสู่การนำไปประยุกต์ใช้ในสถานการณ์จริงอย่างมีประสิทธิภาพส่วนรูปแบบการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะที่เป็นจุดแข็ง เรียกว่า NCSCS Model ประกอบด้วย 5 ขั้นตอน ได้แก่ 1) ร่วมบ่มเพาะบรรยากาศการเรียนรู้เชิงบวกเพื่อพัฒนาความงอกงามภายใน 2) ร่วมค้นหาจุดแข็ง 3) ร่วมผนึกกำลังกำหนดเป้าหมาย 4) ร่วมวางแผนและนำไปใช้ในสถานการณ์จริง และ 5) ร่วมสะท้อนผลลัพธ์และแบ่งปันกำลังใจ ผลการวิจัยจึงมีนัยสำคัญต่อการพัฒนาหลักสูตรด้วยการปรึกษาเชิงจิตวิทยานักศึกษาครูในบริบทวัฒนธรรมไทย
