CREATIVE PRODUCTION OF THAI FILMS CONCEALING POLITICAL SYMBOLS IN THAILAND

Abstract

The research was on creative production of Thai Films concealing political symbols in Thailand aims to study Thai films and produce creative Thai film screenplays. The study investigates how Thai films employ symbols to convey political messages and in what forms, employing semiotics as the primary analytical tool. This research is qualitative in nature and select Thai films from period 2015 to 2019, a time of political transition in Thailand and when film was significantly influenced by societ trends. A total of six film were analyzed through a screenplay analysis approach. From the research findings, it was observed that in all six films, the following patterns emerged regarding the use of symbols to convey meaning (1) narrative unit analysis: Thai films predominantly employed a narrative-driven approach to convey meaning; (2) the myth attitude of Thai films primarily use event-based symbolism to convey meaning, with character-based symbolism, being secondary. In terms of symbolic distances, Thai films use a three-tiered approach to symbolism, with a the primary focus on symbols. All six films utilize symbols to convey meaning related to the same thematic aspects, including social structure, expression, emotion, societal idealism, upper class, and lower class. In the creative process of developing the Thai film screenplay, the researcher has utilized insights from the analysis of symbols in all three perspectives to creation films that reflected the political themes in Thailand. Drawing from their personal experiences, the narrative of the researcher revolved around ordinary people in Thai society, entwined with the values, beliefs, culture, and in the contemporary social context of Thailand.

งานวิจัยเรื่อง “การสร้างสรรค์ภาพยนตร์ไทยซ่อนสัญญะทางการเมืองในประเทศไทย” มีวัตถุประสงค์เพื่อศึกษาภาพยนตร์ไทยและสร้างสรรค์บทภาพยนตร์ไทย โดยศึกษาว่าภาพยนตร์ไทยมีการใช้สัญญะในการสื่อความหมายประเด็นทางการเมืองอย่างไร รูปแบบใด โดยศึกษาวิเคราะห์ผ่านเครื่องมือทฤษฎีสัญวิทยาเป็นหลัก (Semiology) เพื่อนำองค์ความรู้มาสร้างสรรค์บทภาพยนตร์ไทย สำหรับงานวิจัยครั้งนี้เป็นงานวิจัยเชิงคุณภาพ (Qualitative Research) โดยคัดเลือกภาพยนตร์ไทยในช่วง พ.ศ. 2558-2562 ซึ่งเป็นช่วงของการเปลี่ยนผ่านรัฐบาลและเป็นภาพยนตร์ที่ได้รับผลกระทบจากกระแสสังคม เป็นจำนวนทั้งสิ้น 6 เรื่อง ด้วยการวิเคราะห์ผ่านตัวบท (Textual analysis) จากการวิจัยพบว่าสัญญะที่ปรากฎในภาพยนตร์ทั้ง 6 เรื่อง พบว่า (1) การวิเคราะห์หน่วยการเล่าเรื่องในการสื่อความหมาย พบว่า ภาพยนตร์ไทยใช้รูปแบบเน้นการเล่าเรื่องเป็นหลัก ในการสื่อความหมาย (2) มายาคติในการสื่อความหมาย พบว่า ภาพยนตร์ไทยใช้รูปแบบของเหตุการณ์เป็นหลัก รองลงมาคือ ตัวละคร ในการสื่อความหมาย (3) ระยะห่างของสัญญะในการสื่อความหมาย พบว่า ภาพยนตร์ไทยใช้รูปแบบของสัญญะห่างกันในระดับ 3 หรือ สัญลักษณ์เป็นหลัก โดยภาพยนตร์ทั้ง 6 เรื่อง ใช้สัญญะสื่อความหมายถึงประเด็นและปัญหาในทิศทางเดียวกัน ได้แก่ 1. โครงสร้างสังคม 2. การแสดงออก 3. อุดมการณ์ 4. สังคมในอุดมคติ 5. ชนชั้นสูง 6. ชนชั้นล่าง สำหรับการสร้างสรรค์บทภาพยนตร์ไทย ผู้วิจัยได้ผลลัพธ์จากการวิเคราะห์สัญญะตามแนวคิดทั้ง 3 รูปแบบมาสร้างบทภาพยนตร์ที่สะท้อนความหมายประเด็นทางการเมืองไทย โดยประสบการณ์ของผู้วิจัยเอง เป็นเรื่องราวของผู้คนทั่วไปที่พบสังคมไทย ยึดโยงกับค่านิยมทางความเชื่อ วัฒนธรรม และบริบทสังคมไทยในปัจจุบัน
