GUIDELINES TO ENHANCE THAINESS CHARACTERISTICS AMONG SOCIETY EXPECTATIONS FOR STUDENTS OF THAI HIGHER EDUCATION INSTITUTIONS

Abstract

The aims of this research were as follows: (1) to study the characteristics of Thainess and the social expectations of students at Thai higher education institutions; (2) to develop guidelines to enhance the characteristics of Thainess and the and the social expectations of students at Thai higher education institutions; (3) to assess the appropriateness and possibilities of guidelines to enhance the characteristics of Thainess and the social expectations of students at Thai higher education institutions. The sample group consisted of 63 people and used purposive sampling, including a focus group form and an appropriateness and possibilities assessment form with five-point Likert scale. The statistics used for data analysis included frequency, percentage, mean, standard deviation and a one sample t-test. The findings were as follows: (1) the characteristics of Thainess were found to be “having Thai historical knowledge” and “having adaptability skills” in the aspect of conception, “Being excellent communicator” and “Being respectful person” in the aspect of conduct, and “Being a grateful person” and “Being a conservative person” in the aspect of consciousness; (2) the development guidelines found seven approaches, as follows: 1) development of an integrated subject; 2) to research, publish or create innovation; 3) to conduct university projects that attract students; 4) to open a cultural exchange forum; 5) to conduct project-based learning in the community; 6) to improve landscaping and networking in local learning organizations; and 7) a focus on Thai cultural management; (3) the seven guidelines were appropriate overall, at a high level and significantly higher than the determined criteria of .05.

การวิจัยครั้งนี้มีความมุ่งหมาย คือ (1) เพื่อศึกษาคุณลักษณะความเป็นไทยที่สังคมคาดหวังสำหรับนิสิตนักศึกษาสถาบันอุดมศึกษาไทย (2) เพื่อพัฒนาแนวทางการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะความเป็นไทยที่สังคมคาดหวังสำหรับนิสิตนักศึกษาสถาบันอุดมศึกษาไทย และ (3) เพื่อศึกษาความเหมาะสมและความเป็นไปได้ของแนวทางการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะความเป็นไทยที่สังคมคาดหวังสำหรับนิสิตนักศึกษาสถาบันอุดมศึกษาไทย กลุ่มตัวอย่างที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย ผู้บริหาร คณาจารย์ ผู้นำนิสิต และผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิทางด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรมและความเป็นไทย รวม 63 คน เครื่องมือที่ใช้ในการวิจัยประกอบด้วย แบบสัมภาษณ์เชิงลึก แบบสนทนากลุ่ม และแบบประเมินความเหมาะสมและความเป็นไปได้แบบมาตราส่วนประมาณค่า 5 ระดับตามแบบของลิเคิร์ท สถิติที่ใช้วิเคราะห์ข้อมูล ได้แก่ ค่าความถี่ ค่าร้อยละ ค่าคะแนนเฉลี่ย ค่าความเบี่ยงเบนมาตรฐาน และการทดสอบที ผลการวิจัยปรากฏ ดังนี้ (1) คุณลักษณะความเป็นไทยที่สังคมคาดหวังสำหรับนิสิตนักศึกษาสถาบันอุดมศึกษาไทย พบว่า ด้านความรู้ ความเข้าใจ คือคุณลักษณะ “รู้รากเหง้า” และ “เท่าทันสถานการณ์” ด้านการปฏิบัติ คือคุณลักษณะ “สื่อสารดี” และ “มีสัมมาคารวะ” และด้านจิตสำนึก คือคุณลักษณะ “ตระหนักคุณค่า” และ “รักษาให้คงอยู่” (2) ผลการพัฒนาแนวทางการเสริมสร้างคุณลักษณะความเป็นไทยที่สังคมคาดหวังสำหรับนิสิตนักศึกษาสถาบันอุดมศึกษาไทย จากการสนทนากลุ่มกับผู้ทรงคุณวุฒิในขั้นพัฒนาร่างแนวทาง 2 ขั้นตอน พบว่า ประกอบด้วย 7 แนวทาง คือ 1) การพัฒนารายวิชาบูรณาการศาสตร์ 2) การผลิตและเผยแพร่สิ่งประดิษฐ์หรืองานวิจัย 3) การจัดกิจกรรมโครงการที่ตอบสนองนิสิตนักศึกษายุคปัจจุบัน 4) การเปิดเวทีแลกเปลี่ยนเรียนรู้ความคิดเห็นทางวัฒนธรรมระหว่างบุคลากรกับชุมชน 5) การจัดทำโครงการบูรณาการร่วมกันระหว่างชุมชน 6)การปรับภูมิทัศน์และสร้างเครือข่ายพื้นที่แหล่งเรียนรู้ และ 7) การให้ความสำคัญในงานบริหารจัดการด้านศิลปวัฒนธรรม และ (3) การประเมินความเหมาะสมในการนำแนวทางไปปฏิบัติ พบว่า ทุกแนวทางมีความเหมาะสมสูงกว่าเกณฑ์ที่กำหนดในระดับ 3.51 อย่างมีนัยสำคัญทางสถิติที่ระดับ .05
